I will be tested

Celtic loanee Adam Montgomery is hoping to weather any challenges he faces at St Johnstone after agreeing a short-term loan deal until January.

The 19-year-old full-back was loaned out to Aberdeen in the second half of last season, making five league appearances for the Pittodrie club.

Now the Scottish champions have sent him once again, this time to another Scottish Premiership side where they hope Montgomery gets more first-team opportunities.

Montgomery believes that at McDiarmid Park he will be tested every day, given the quality of players St Johnstone has to offer.

“My goal is to play as many first-team games as possible and help the team win football games,” Montgomery says the official St Johnstone website.

“I will be tested here every day and I can see the quality of the team is good.

“The hard work has started and I want to show what I’m capable of.”

Competing for places, Montgomery believes, will push him to his limits and he is ready to take on any challenge by giving his best for the team.

“Every manager wants competition for places and every player wants to be pushed to their limits.

“That’s how I want it to be and I will respond to every challenge thrown at me by giving my 100 per cent for this football club.”

Montgomery will be looking to feature regularly under Callum Davidson and impress Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou ahead of his return to Celtic Park.
