Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Tuesday that a separate gender budget statement containing details of all major programs dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of women was presented in the 2022-23 state budget, which would go a long way in monitoring the programs implemented for women. accountability.
Speaking to BJP Mahila Morcha’s Pratibha Samman Samaroh in Shimla, Thakur said the state government is committed to women’s empowerment and gender equality and has taken several steps in this direction.
Women make up approximately 50% of our society and play an important role in creating a strong and vibrant society. During the Covid-19 pandemic, BJP Mahila Morcha played a major role in checking the spread of this virus as more than 53 lakh masks were prepared and distributed by them for free, he added.
He said 50% of reservations were granted in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) to women in the state during his tenure as Minister Panchayati Raj. There was almost no field and no sphere where women did not excel, which was a matter of happiness for all of us.
The state government has decided to provide social security pension to all in the age group of 60 without any income limit. Additionally, several programs have been launched for the welfare of women in the state, the CM said.
He further said that Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna aims to provide free gas connection to poor families and more than 3.25 lakh free gas connections have been provided under this scheme which has enabled the ‘Himachal to become a smoke-free state of the country.
Additionally, daughters of BPL families received a grant of 31,000 rupees at the time of their marriage under the Shagun Yojna.
The Mukhyamantri Swabalamban Yojna has also helped women entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and a 35% grant would be given to women entrepreneurs under this scheme.
The state government has also increased the monthly fees for Anganwari workers, Anganwari assistant, ASHA workers, sewing teachers, midday meal workers, water carriers from the Department of Education, which would bring much-needed relief to women.
State Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, BJP National General Secretary Mahila Morcha Dipti Rawat, BJP Head of State Mahila Morcha Rashim Dhar Sood were present on the occasion among others.
